House Portraits

Home is where the art is - Remember your home or other favorite place with a custom image to keep forever

Each portrait will depict your house using Winsor & Newton watercolors and illustration pens on a high quality watercolor paper or board.

    • The cost for a house portrait begins at $315 (plus shipping). Price includes shipping & handling with added insurance plus tax. I currently accept Venmo payments, personal checks, or cash (if applicable).

    • 50% of the total portrait cost is due at the beginning of the project. This non-refundable deposit will secure your order and your place on my project list. The remainder of your payment plus the shipping cost will be due upon completion of your portrait - projects will not be shipped until final payment is received.

    • I take my time to include even the smallest details of your home - Upon inquiry, we can discuss size and which details you want highlighted in the piece (from landscaping to colors & other objects).

    • Once your initial deposit is paid, you will be added to my order list and I will begin your portrait when time allows. I will let you know when I begin working and send you updates throughout the process (unless you want to keep it a surprise)! I will give you a heads up as I approach the end of your project so you can prepare the final payment.

    • If you intend to have your order delivered by a specific date, please clearly indicate that need up front. I will do my very best to have your piece completed on time. Orders requested with less than one month’s notice may be subject to a rush-order fee depending on my availability.

  • The reference photo can make a huge difference in the result of your portrait, and a good quality photo will also make the process easier for me! Here are a few tips for getting a great shot:

    • Use natural light - take a photo during the day when the sun isn’t casting major shadows on the house. A bright overcast day may actually be a good time for a shot.

    • The angle is everything - consider the angle of the house that you wish to replicate in your portrait. I think that sometimes a slight diagonal allows for more dimension in the portrait, but this all depends on the shape and landscaping of your house. Some houses look better straight-on than others.

    • I can only fit the house as wide as the paper - If you have a really wide ranch style house, for example, or if you wanted something to be shown more close up, consider featuring the main entrance of the house and cropping part of the house out.

    • When possible, avoid clutter in the driveway/yard. Cars, sports equipment, and lawn care items can block my view of the house. I can edit out small items fairly easily, but it is best if you send the cleanest shot.

    • Do your best to capture your favorite landscaping features - if there is a particular tree you love and want featured, make sure it fits in the frame without compromising the view of the house. I can easily make flowers and foliage more vibrant.
